Frequently Asked Questions
How can psychotherapy help me?
We have all been affected by loss, grief, painful childhood experiences and trauma. You may be feeling depressed, overwhelmed, sad or alone. Psychotherapy can help you to feel better about yourself and not feel as alone going through a difficult time. It is about exploring what you are feeling and expressing this in the therapeutic process. It can help in setting boundaries to feel less vulnerable and more in control of your life. Some other benefits are better coping skills and management, communication, self awareness and increased self esteem.
What can I expect from therapy?
There is research that shows that the most important predictor of success in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. It is important you feel you are in a safe, trusting and compassionate therapeutic environment where you are being validated, heard and respected so that it is comfortable for you to open up and not feel judged or uncomfortable talking about your issues in the therapeutic process.
What types of therapy do you provide?
I use various modalities such as arts, depth, supportive and psychodynamic therapy as well as integrating other traditions into my practise like yogic breathing and visualizations.
How much do you charge?
Individual psychotherapy sessions are 60 minutes long, and are $130. A 15% discount will be given if 5 sessions are paid for in advance. I accept credit cards, cash, and e-transfers. Payment is required at the end of each counselling session.
How long is each session?
1 hour to 1.5 hours.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cannot make it to a counselling session, I require 24 hours cancellation notice.
